Appear Photography, Hoover, Birmingham, AL children's photographer, fine art portrait, vintage inspired, antique, tintype photo

I recently got inspired to do a series of portraits with a fine art/vintage-inspired style. Good thing I have my darling daughter to model for me. ;) She's at a really fun age to photograph. I've always been intrigued by anything old or antique and I wanted to create something that really had that vibe to it. I put a lot into this session. I even hand-painted the canvas backdrop myself, something I never done before. A fellow photographer/artist saw one of the photos posted online and sent me a version of the photo where he added a tintype overlay to the photo. I feel like I could easily be looking at a photo created 100+ years ago! I was pleasantly surprised when he sent the new version to me. I had the last photo printed on metal so it looks like a real tintype photo. I love that with photography in this day and age, the possibilities are literally endless.

People who know me know that my other huge passion outside of photography is music. I'm almost always listening to music as I'm editing photos.  One of my favorite composers is Ludovico Einaudi. For some reason, I associate this particular shoot with one of my favorite songs by him. To listen to the song, click here.

The digital world is great, but there is nothing like having something tangible in your hands to treasure and pass down. Here is one of the many options we offer for albums. This is a matted album with velvety deep matte photos. Simple, classic and timeless.
